  1. Fans of The Nice and/or of The Incredible String Band might be interested to know that in 1972 Brian Davison recorded a track with the ISB, called Sunday Song. Brian’s rumbling drums provided just the sort of rhythmic underscore the chorus line (“Love is God, it’s God, my sweet darling…”) called for to send the song all the way home. It happens to be one of my long-time favorite ISB songs. I’d love to see the playlists of both bands at this Middle Earth gig. I consider these two bands to be the most progressive in their respective genres of rock & folk-rock. The Nice defined the classical-jazz-progrock era; the Incredible String Band heralded the era of world-spirit-celtic-psychedelic-folkrock. Although they played on separate nights that weekend, it might have been where the two first ran into each other. I wonder if the shows were bootlegged? I sure hope so. I’m off to scour the Tube…
